This article was written a few years ago but the information still holds true this year as well! I’ve been a first time buyer many times, (every three years you can qualify as a 1st time buyer) and each time I was nervous as any of my buyers!
One true fact that I did learn throughout the process is if anything can go wrong it will, but having a experience real estate agent along your side will make you feel a lot more confident to complete your most important purchase in your life.
If I can stress what I feel is the most important step in getting ready to purchase your own home, is to make sure your loan is in place first! Purchasing your home without your loan in place is like going shopping and not knowing how much you can purchase.
Seeing that perfect home and no loan in place, you can’t show the owner that you’re serious about purchasing their home, and hoping you’re working with an agent and they advise you it’s not worth looking at homes without your loan in place because you can’t put a solid contract on the home unless you’re paying cash. I put the word loan in bold letters because again in my opinion that is the most important step in purchasing your home.
I have preferred lenders who knows how to make sure we close on time, but more important they make sure you have the best type, terms, and rates with your loan!
